“At my local track my lap times consistently decreased by ~1 second solely due to switching to Cobalt pads and regaining that confidence.”
Performance gains are one thing. Restored confidence under braking is everything.
Here’s Cameron Wagner’s full experience after making the switch to our XR2’s:
“My name is Cameron Wagner and I had a problem with braking. They say that admission of a problem is the first step.
After 20 years of using one brand of brake pads for several different cars, I was disappointed with how my current racecar was acting under braking. Not only were braking distances much longer than I anticipated, but wear and inconsistency became an issue; all of those contributed to a lack of confidence slowing down. I tried new calipers, new rotors, titanium pistons, different compounds...nothing helped as much as I hoped. I talked to some fellow racers about my troubles and they suggested to give Cobalt pads a try.
After collaborating with them and the crew at Cobalt for a compound appropriate to my car and classification, I took the plunge with XR2 pads on all four corners. After my first session with them, which didn’t require break-in, all of my braking issues were solved. Not only were distances immediately shorter, but after a few sessions, wear was decreased by 50% on the fronts and my wheel to wheel confidence was restored. At my local track my lap times consistently decreased by ~1 second solely due to switching to Cobalt pads and regaining that confidence (most notably with trail-braking). Over the life of the pads they functioned as consistently as if they were brand new.
Usually one reads that one should stick to brake pad brands they know (“if the shoe fits, wear it”), as that can be worth more than a faster lap time. But I am glad I made the switch to Cobalt and will be using their pads on all of my racecars from now on.”
-Cameron Wagner
“I felt like I was braking about 100 yards deeper into Turn 1 over my previous pads.”
First wheel-to-wheel race for @korean__kevin and he scores a P2 in ST5 at Podium CCW during @southwestspeedfest. This was also his first time using our Cobalt pads, and he set a new personal best during the practice day.
Congrats Kevin—and thanks for trusting us!

“After 12 months (and 16 track days) it was time to replace the rotors, but the Cobalt pads likely had another couple track days in them. The incredible part is they had the same bite on day 16 as they did on day 1. Replacing pads only once per year without second guessing the car’s ability to stop when you stand on the brakes at 160 mph - is priceless.
Thanks again for making an awesome product!” -Blind Rhino Racing
